Celebrity Sightings

Last season saw the return of in-person shows, after a long period of virtual fashion walks. This season, we’ve been able to see the outfits not just of the models, but of celebrities attending too. This adds an additional layer to New York Fashion Week, and gives people even more discussion points for upcoming trends. In fact, we’re seeing more trends be influenced by celebrities and influencers, and you might even find the next trends on Chatloop amongst your peers. This year at New York Fashion Week, we saw head-turning styles from the likes of Kate Hudson, Jessica Wang, Orville Peck and more.

Rodarte’s Dark Gothic Glamour

Another big talking piece of New York Fashion Week was Rodarte’s gothic-inspired runway. Hosted at Williamsburg Savings Bank, viewers were taken into a Celtic fairytale land with a dark edge. With some viewers comparing it to Black Swan, the show received many positive reviews on its grandeur and opulence, with the prevailing trend being noted as “gothic glamour” and “balletcore”.

Thom Browne

For a good while now, Thom Browne has almost exclusively only showed his work in Paris, so when he made an appearance this year at New York Fashion Week, it made headlines. Showcasing Men’s and Women’s collections for Fall/Winter 2023, all eyes were on him, and he did not disappoint. What ensued was a story told over the course of 35 minutes, inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved 1943 novella, The Little Prince. Not only did it display Thom Browne’s excellence as a designer and tailor but also brought up themes of loneliness, loss, determination, and exploration.
